OMG! OMG! I have read this book twice now and I am thinking seriously thinking of reading it again. This book like her previous book Frills is a one of kind book that I have enjoyed reading so very much. Her writing is outstanding and superb and holds the readers attention page after page. I found it very hard to put the book down and was reading the book anywhere I could. The story is about a transgender boy who knows he is a girl. It leads you her trying times and in the end leaves you wanting the story to continue on and on. I would recommend this book to anyone who liked the book Frills. Her story plot us Anime and songs from Anime series was something different in any other stories I have read. The song with lyrics "Lonely Feather" is a really great song as I did find it on the internet and I really like the song. If this doesn't help you in deciding to read this book then all I can say is you are passing up a very good book. Why read a story? For the plot. For the characters. For the shear enjoyment of words put together well. And because you can't put it down. Read this story! It touches all the bases and all the emotions. Thank you for writing it. It is now in my rainy day reread folder.
With her life on the line she starts out filling in and creates a show of help, hope, and ability to show others how to become the best one can be. She had adversaries from all walks and stages of life but out did them all and became the person we all wish to emulate. When she puts on her heels and outfits and becomes "The Late Nite Princess" she gives all who listen to her hope and help. Enjoy reading this story.
It's an interesting premise, and wonderfully written book about self-exploration and overcoming adversity. Some of the adversity and protagonists are a bit "out there" but hey, it's a book. ) I've already read it twice, and thoroughly enjoyed it twice. I would have liked for a bit more at the end and maybe a bit more "fleshing out" between the last two parts, but very minor and it's not a detraction on the story at all. Just a personal preference - I'm nosy that way. Awesome book, and it's also awesome to see the continued development of the author. I eagerly await her next!
Sonny Crockett becomes Dawn with all the troubles it entails. He gets a job cleaning at a radio station . He makes extra money doing voices for some commercials. When a night personal leaves them in the lurch Sonny becomes Dawn and works his shift. She becomes one of their best personalities. She must deal with attacks,but with her friends she wins through. Even the last attack that all most kills her. It is so nice to read a book where the transgendered person has friends and help to stand with her. Please read this and really enjoy the story.
Good book and not a short story. Main transgender character is developed slowly but well written. Gets a little wordy in places with unnecessary details, which is why I rated it only four stars. Exciting in many places with some extreme violence against our heroin, but she comes out on top. The ending of the book is mostly well done, although it kind of leaves you hanging about what happens to Dawn regarding going to college; that part is actually a little disjointed where it seems she is working for a second radio station and quits to return to the first station where she became a star radio personality throughout much of the book. Love the scene in court where the bad guys face the judge. I would buy this again.. There were some very definite editing misses throughout the book, but nothing confusing.
The Station's Late Night Princess is one of the best TG fiction books I have read. It's even better than Ms. Snowfall's "Frills", which I read twice. I will definitely read TSLNP again. The story is interesting, the characters are well developed and likeable, although none are perfect, even the protagonist. This makes for a very realistic presentation, and involving story . I went through a box of Kleenex reading of Dawn's triumphs and tribulations. The villains are evil and frightening and get their just due. Her deft use of anime, even more than in Frills, is making me go online to look up the songs and titles she mentioned. Keep up the good work Alecia! Brava!
An interesting story of the difficulties that are experienced by TG individuals and their acceptance by others. For those that enjoy this genre, or are interested in young adult fiction, it is a worthwhile read.
I must say though that the continual use of capitalized words randomly placed in hundreds of places in the book are distracting, annoying and unnecessary. Capital words are SHOUTING and people do not shout random words in sentences when they are talking normally. I would suggest Alecia that you consider changing them to lower case and uploading a new file because as it is now it is jarring to say the least and to be honest I nearly stopped reading after the first 10% as I found it so annoying - my 2cents worth.
